Foodtrip to Binondo cancelled
JD invited us for a foodtrip at Binondo. Di pa ako nakakarating dun kaya i agreed to come along even though food is not my thing.

So we agreed to meetup at Robinson's Ermita, around 4pm at Coffee Bean. JD was first at the place. I came a few minutes later than him. As usual, hindi uli ako umorder, virgin pa ko sa mga highly priced coffee chains. heheh. So we stayed there chatting about food, the book he brought about the chef who travelled to explore more on food, about movies, and our trivia thread. Arvy arrived 20 or so minutes later. At ang pinakapasaway na si Jay ang pinakalate dumating, more than an hour. Since we couldnt go to Binondo at this time kasi were running out of daylight, JD insisted we just eat in this place in Malate.
Kaya ayun naglakad nga kami papunta dun. While walking there, I inquired where they got their usernames. JD got his from a story by JD Salinger titled "A Perfect Day for Bananafish." Si Arvy naman eh galing daw sa character ni Anne Rice named Rowan Mayfair. I initially thought Agatha Christie. Memory gap, tnx to JD for reminding me. Jay's press2play is from an album by Aerosmith.
Meron kami nakitang bakery along the way. Naughty ang designs ng ilang cakes. Bagay pang stag party? heheh. Meron din isang Chinese restaurant yata, meron ding old style American restol; the we turned right at Remedios, passed the Malate Church until we reached our destination... Wok Inn. It is a small resto, kinda like Dampa as I am told, where you pick which ingredient you want to cook and how you want it prepared.
Main course: Sweet and sour squid, eel adobo, pork dumplings, buttered shrimp, and stir fried veggies. Sarap nung squid, mejo spicy nga lang. Yung eel naman nakakainis kasi nga matinik pero malambot talaga at malasa. Feborit ko ung shrimp, yum yum yum, nuff said.
Bago kami matapos, kelangan magCR ni Jay. Pero occupied yung toilet downstairs kaya tinuro sya sa second floor. Hindi nya kinaya kaya umatras sya. Si JD ang naglakas loob na sumuong sa 2/F. Madilim ung second floor at walang tao, nasa dulo ng corridor ang CR. Pagpasok mo dun kakapain mo pa ang switch. Boom! Nasa harap mo ang mirror. Good luck na lang kung makakita ka ng white lady di ba. heheh. Gusto ko nga rin sana matry kaya lang kelangan complete attendance kami. Gawin bang ghost hunting dun?
After ng bayaran ang bill, balik na kami Rob. Pagtapat namin sa bakery, naalala ni JD na wala pa kami pics for souvenir. Sayang nga hindi nakunan ung food. heheh. Then sa Rob, nagstay kami sa P.Gil entrance near the fountains. Gandang kodak moments dun. Meron mga bata nglalaro sa fountain. Naisip ko nga itulak sa fountain eh. ahaha. Nagchikkahan lang kami dun about stuff. Pagdating ng 8pm nagba-bye na si Jay.
Umikot pa kami sa mall. Una sa Power Books. We saw this book by Rachel Ray na kinaiinisan daw ng bf ni JD. Nag ikot ako sa may fictions, may natargetan akong book pero wala ako money that time, there's still next time. Si Arvy yata nasa may manga, adik un sa Japanese culture at Buddhism yata eh. ahaha
Next stop Toy World yata, ndi ko matandaan eh. Alam ko lang Toy Kingdom sa mega. heheh. May nadaanan kami mga monkeys na favorite ni JD. Pagdaan sa magic slate, nagsulat si Arvy in hiragana, pagkaerase nya si JD naman nagsulat in alibata. Mga adik! ehehe. Tinignan ko lang dun ung Rubik's cubes, pero since out of stock na ung 3x3x3 umalis narin ako. Dun sa may board games naisip namin na dapat next EB eh game night.
We got out around 9pm. Nilakad namin hanggang Taft, dun sumakay si Arvy paQC. Si JD naman nagtaxi to Guadalupe. Ako nagjeep lang papuntang Sta. Ana.
Ang saya ng gabing yun, bonding with friends old and new. The purpose of the whole trip is not just to fill the stomach with food, but to fill the mind with experiences you share with friends, and to fill the heart with joy of time spent with good company.
Sa uulitin! Sana marami pa sumali saka makapag-ikot ikot tayo sa mas maraming kainan.
